Effects of Biomass Fast Pyrolysis Fuel on the Tribological Behaviour of Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine Lubricating Oil

The fuel type not only influences the engine power and exhaust emissions, but dilutes lubricating oil. We studied effects of biomass fast pyrolysis fuel, or biofuel, on tribological behaviour a fully formulated oil (FFEO) used for heavy-duty diesel engines by reciprocating sliding tribometer, which simulated conditions an cylinder liner piston ring. analysed surface morphology, roughness, elemental contents countersurfaces through scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersant spectroscopy roughness measurements. wear mechanism was analysing compositions kinematic viscosities samples. results indicate that friction coefficient increased along with emulsified (EBF) content in FFEO. mass loss EBF were simultaneously increased. mainly attributed to corrosion function biofuel.
